How Orthodontics Work
At Clinique Dentaire Écladent, our dentists are pleased to offer orthodontic services. Teeth that are not properly aligned can lead to problems that go far beyond the aesthetic issues most people associate with them.
More difficult oral hygiene, plaque and tartar buildup, and an increased risk of developing cavities or gum problems are risks associated with untreated orthodontic issues. This highlights the importance of addressing these problems with appropriate orthodontic care. Our team is here for you, from the initial evaluation of your condition to the full completion of your treatment.
It is important to assess the teeth and jaws to detect any orthodontic problems. An initial consultation can be done as early as childhood. However, it is never too late for orthodontic care. Adults can enjoy the benefits of orthodontics just as much as children or teenagers. Our dentists will offer you a solution tailored to your needs, expectations, and budget.
The Consequences of Orthodontic Issues
Orthodontic problems can be related to poor alignment of the teeth, incorrect positioning, lack of space in the jaws, or improper relationship between the upper and lower jaws (occlusion). Depending on the nature of the problem, several consequences can be associated with it, including the following:
- Teeth that are harder to clean: Teeth that are misaligned, poorly positioned, or overlapping are more difficult to clean when brushing and flossing. This can lead to a greater accumulation of dental plaque and tartar.
- Teeth more prone to diseases: The teeth and various components of the mouth are at higher risk of developing issues such as cavities, gum disease, and problems with the tissues supporting the teeth.
- Jaw dysfunction: Poor occlusion can lead to issues with the jaw joints, teeth grinding (bruxism), and even problems with chewing or speaking.
Invisalign Clear Aligners
The Invisalign treatment is based on the use of a series of transparent, removable aligners that gradually shift the alignment of the teeth. This type of treatment is progressive, and each step is planned: each set of aligners must be worn for a predetermined amount of time before being replaced by a new set of trays.
The aligners are made from digital impressions of the teeth taken using the iTero Scan. The aligners are crafted from transparent plastic, which allows them to fit discreetly over the smile.
Traditional Braces
As pressure is applied and the teeth move, the jawbone gradually remodels to adjust to the new positions of the teeth. In recent years, advancements in orthodontic treatment have led to the creation of devices that are more discreet, more comfortable, and easier to maintain.
